Akinyi Awora
Akinyi Awora is the co-founder and CEO of Kadana Group, a digital and creative solutions service company creating value-based business practices. She also serves as the president of the Kadana Foundation, which works towards harnessing the tools of the fourth industrial revolution to create innovative healthcare, education, and economic development solutions.
Akinyi’s life’s work is dedicated to designing solutions that disrupt the way the world thinks about development. Her philosophy ‘Lead with Love’ is the driving force behind her campaign to end poverty by infusing every solution we come up with the inherent belief that all human beings deserve to live with dignity above all else. She has worked towards organizing young people to take lead in rethinking our approaches towards sustainable development.
Akinyi has worked as a design thinking consultant helping businesses, civil societies, and public servants design products and programs built for impact. She is a Mandela Washington Fellow, an Ashoka Young Changemaker, a #IamRemarkable trainer, an Africa Youth for SDG’s Champion, SDG 5 Champion, and a relentless force in advocating for sustainable development. Her work with women in business earned her the Women of Heart Golden Award from the Women of Heart Foundation in London, UK. Her work has been featured on global platforms such as the Acumen Fund and World Connect.
She also is the founding curator of Global Shapers in Kisumu, the YALI network co-ordinator, and the Women Will Kisumu chapter co-lead. She sits on both the gender and youth technical working groups for Kisumu County. She is also a TEDx organizer.
She holds a BA in Community Development from Maasai Mara University and is an MPP candidate at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
