                                                The  band  fuses  American  Jazz  with  Polish  soul  to  build  cultural  bridges  using  Jazz.  The  band  will  debut  their  new  album  “In  Our  Own  Way”  at  the  2019  Kenya  International  Jazz  Day  celebrations.  Sylwester  Ostrowski,  the  band  leader  is  also  the  Director  of  Szczecin  Jazz.  Szczecin,  Poland  is  a  member  of  Jazz  Sister  Cities.
Ostrowski refers to the album as a “multicultural artistic dialogue,” and indeed the personnel hail from all over the world. Ostrowski is from Poland and drummer Eric Allen is originally from Washington D.C. USA but currently resides in Poland. Trumpeter Freddie Hendrix hangs out in New Jersey. Pianist Miki Hayama, originally from Japan, is based in New York. Bassist Essiet Okon Essiet, also New York-based, is a native Nigerian. Special guest vocalist Deborah Brown is from Kansas City and resided for many years in Amsterdam. Pop-Jazz singer icon Dorota Miskiewicz rounds out the Polish contingent. Dorrey Lin Lyles is an American gospel singer with roots in Atlantic City, Harlem, and Philadelphia. And honored guest pianist Darius Brubeck grew up in California, for many years lived in South Africa, and currently resides in London.
